Someone Other Than the Imam Doing Tabligh
Question
The imam of the Jami‘ mosque here is a half-learned mulla. If anyone other than him does tabligh (conveying the religion), the imam finds it disagreeable, even though he himself does not have the way of doing tabligh. Is this manner which the imam has adopted permissible according to the Qur’an and hadith?
Answer
Whoever has the competence for tabligh, the imam should himself ask him to do tabligh, and when there is need he should by no means forbid him. His forbidding is wrong.
