Waking the sleeping imam by going to his door

Question

The imam’s house directly adjoins the mosque. If the imam is asleep at home, may the muqtadis (followers) call him by calling out to him or by going to his house, or not? If they may, is there anything objectionable in this?

Answer

If such a situation happens occasionally, he may be woken by going to his door, but this should not be made a habit. (The meaning is that the imam himself should take care to get up on time and reach the mosque; if on occasion he happens to be unable to wake up, there is no harm in the mu’adhdhin or a muqtadi going and waking him.)
