The imamate of one whose daughters do not observe hijab
Question
What is the ruling on the imamate of a man whose parents are displeased with him, who has placed his grown-up daughters to live with men who are not their mahrams, and who, when he is admonished, utters words of misguidance?
Answer
The question does not mention the reason for the parents’ displeasure, so nothing can be said about it. Observing hijab from non-mahrams is fard, and seclusion (khalwa) with a non-mahram is haram. Therefore, if the man in question is able to make his grown-up daughters observe hijab from non-mahrams and still does not do so, he is sinful.
