The imamate of an imam who forbids growing a beard

Question

What is [the ruling on] praying behind an imam who forbids young men to grow a beard, [saying] that they are not yet of the age to grow a beard?

Answer

Forbidding the growing of a beard amounts to opposing the noble hadith. Editor’s note: therefore the said person does not deserve the imamate until he makes firm repentance. See also the reference cited above (“From Ibn ‘Umar ﵁…”).
