Women Joining the Prayer of the Mosque
Question
The mosque in which I pray belongs to the Shafi‘is. Adjoining the mosque is a classroom where Shafi‘i women come to pray. Is their prayer valid? The voice [of the imam] reaches [them] through the microphone.
Answer
Women coming to take part in the prayer is prohibited. They should pray in their homes. However, if between the mosque and the madrasa there is not so wide a gap that a cart could pass, and they do pray [there], the fard will be discharged; but efforts should be made so that they stop coming.
