The thana’ in a prayer with silent recitation

Question: in a prayer with silent recitation (sirri), if a follower (muqtadi) arrives and joins [the imam] in the first rak‘a shortly before the ruku‘, is there latitude for him to recite the thana’ or not?

There is latitude.
