Until when the reward of the first takbir is obtained

Question

Question: what is the limit for joining in the takbir al-tahrima (opening takbir)? If a person joins [the congregation] before the ruku‘ of the first rak‘a, will he obtain the merit of the takbir al-tahrima or not?

Answer

(The issue in question is in “al-Durr al-Mukhtar”.) There is a difference of opinion about the limit for catching the first takbir (takbir al-ula), but the correct view (sahih) is that whoever caught the first rak‘a has also obtained the merit of the first takbir.
