The fard amount of qiyam, recitation, ruku‘ and sujud
Question
In [the section on] the pillars of prayer it is stated that the qiyam is fard at the minimum up to [the length of] the takbir al-tahrima; likewise the recitation is fard at the minimum up to one verse; likewise the ruku‘ is fard at the minimum up to [the length of] saying one tasbih, and the sajda too is fard at the minimum up to [the length of] saying one tasbih. But the matter needing clarification is: what is the limit of the maximum?
Answer
Qiyam, recitation, ruku‘ and sujud are fard; whatever amount of them is performed, once it has been performed, all of it will be called fard. There will be no division whereby the fard of the pillar is fulfilled by the length of one or three tasbihs and the rest is wajib, sunna or nafl.
