Is qiyam fard in a sunna prayer?
Question
In your reply to my inquiry you explained concerning the obligation of qiyam that qiyam is fard, and that in [a prayer] which is not fard but is attached to the fard, such as the wajib and the sunna of Fajr, qiyam is also fard. Now the question arises: is this ruling specific to the fard, the wajib and the sunna of Fajr, or does it include the emphasized sunna as well?
Answer
In the emphasized sunnas other than the sunna of Fajr, qiyam is not fard. [ar](ومنها القيام في فرض) وملحق به كنذر وسنة فجر في الأصح (لقادر عليه)[/ar] “(Among them [the fards of prayer] is the qiyam in a fard [prayer]) and in what is attached to it, such as a vow (nadhr) and the sunna of Fajr, according to the most correct view — (for one who is able to do it)
