Saying the opening takbīr while bending to join the imam

Question

The imam was in rukū‘. A person arrived late and, while bending down, said the opening takbīr (takbīrat al-taḥrīmah) and joined. Is his prayer valid?

Answer

If the opening takbīr was not said while standing, but rather was completed during rukū‘, then his prayer is invalid.
