Praying on a rope bed

Question

A person says: “At night in the wilderness I prayed ‘Isha’ on a rope bed; because of the darkness and the grass and litter I prayed it on the bed.” Is his prayer valid or not?

Answer

If the bed is pure, or a pure cloth, mat or the like is spread on it, and the sajda is performed properly, then prayer on it is valid. Because of darkness and grass one may indeed come to need this.
