Insisting on the Adhan from the Left and the Iqama from the Right

Question

What is [the ruling on] giving the adhan for the five prayers from the left side and the iqama from the right side? What about regarding this as a sunna? Some people adhere to it strictly.

Answer

There is no proof anywhere for this insistence (iltizam); it is entirely baseless.
