Is There a Fixed Side for the Adhan?

Is there a fixed side from which the adhan is to be given, or is some side preferable? What is the case if the adhan is given from the roof of the mosque? Would that not be disrespectful [to the mosque]? Please write in detail.

Answer

For the adhan, all that needs to be observed is that [the mu'adhdhin] faces the qibla and is on an elevated place, so that the voice reaches far. Whether on a minaret or on the wall of the mosque — all of it is correct, whether on the right minaret or the left one.
