The Meaning (Application) of the Term Jihad
Question
People relate the merits of the jama‘ats that go around today on the basis of various hadiths, especially the “hundred-thousand [reward]” hadith. What does the honoured hazrat say to this humble one about it?
Answer
See the treatise “Fada’il-i Tabligh” (“Virtues of Tabligh”): the “hundred-thousand” narration is found in Hafiz al-Mundhiri’s ﵀ “al-Targhib wa-l-Tarhib”. The narration about “going out morning and evening (al-ghudwa wa-l-rawha) in the path of Allah” has been applied by the majority of hadith commentators to jihad.
