The Narration from Hazrat ‘Ali on Deeds Before Sleeping

Question

It is stated in a hadith that the venerable Prophet ﷺ once said to Hazrat ‘Ali ﵁: “Every night, do five things before sleeping: (1) go to sleep having given four thousand dinars in charity; (2) go to sleep having recited the whole of the Holy Qur’an; (3) go to sleep having paid the price of Paradise; (4) go to sleep having reconciled two who are quarrelling; (5) go to sleep having performed a Hajj.” Hazrat ‘Ali ﵁ said: “O Messenger of Allah, this is impossible — I will not be able to do it.

Answer

The merit of charity, recitation of the Holy Qur’an, reconciling those who are quarrelling, Hajj, salawat, istighfar, the kalima tayyiba, Surah al-Fatiha, and Surah al-Ikhlas is mentioned extensively in the hadiths, but I have not seen this entire narration, in precisely this order, in any book.
