Does Teaching Every Day Contradict the Hadith?
Question
It is established by a hadith in the Mishkat that lessons should not be given every day. One of the Companions used to teach on Thursdays, and it appears he was forbidden from doing more than that. Nowadays, however, people teach every day, even though the interest in hearing about religion today does not amount to even a hundredth part of what it was then. So what is the ruling regarding teaching every day?
Answer
A sense of the need for religion should be instilled in people: the greater the indifference to religion, the greater the need for teaching. Religious madrasas should be established. Here at Dar al-Ulum Deoband, teaching begins right after Fajr, continues after the break, and again after Maghrib, after ‘Isha, and on Fridays as well.
