Reciting Surah al-Lahab and Reciting the Qur’an Without Understanding Its Meaning

Question

(1) Is it makruh to recite Surah al-Lahab in the obligatory (fard) prayer, or not? (2) Is it permissible to recite the Holy Qur’an without understanding its meaning, or not?

Answer

(1) Surah al-Lahab too is a surah of the Noble Qur’an, and reciting it in prayer is likewise permissible, without any makruh quality — in accordance with the words of the Almighty: [ar]فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ ٱلْقُرْءَانِ[/ar] “So recite what is easy for you of the Qur’an” (Surah al-Muzzammil, 73:20).
