Completing a Khatm of the Qur’an When Building a House

Question

Zayd is building a new house; for its goodness and blessing he wishes to arrange a khatm (complete recitation) of the Qur’an. Is this permissible according to the Sacred Law?

Answer

Let him himself, together with his household and friends, recite the Noble Qur’an in it and make du‘a: “O Allah Most High, grant goodness and blessing in it; grant those who dwell in it the ability to perform good deeds; grant [them] to follow the Sunna; protect [them] from sins; protect [them] from the evil of devils, jinn and neighbours.”
