Listening to Quran Recitation Broadcast on the Radio
Question
If someone is reciting the Word of Allah near a radio and instructs that the radio be turned off, but [those responsible for it] still do not desist, should he, in such a case, for the sake of preserving the sanctity of the Noble Word, suspend or interrupt his recitation, or what measure should he adopt according to the Shari‘a?
Answer
If a person is already engaged in reciting the Sacred Word, and the radio then comes on, and it too has recitation of the Qur’an playing, he has the choice either to stop his own recitation and listen to the radio’s recitation, or to remain engaged in his own recitation.
