What Should Be Done with a Worn-Out Qur’an?
Question
If the Noble Qur’an becomes worn out, what should be done? A certain respected scholar says that it should be burned in fire and the ashes buried in the ground. Is doing this better and permissible?
Answer
A Noble Qur’an that has become worn out to the point of no longer being fit for recitation should be wrapped in a clean cloth, a grave dug, and it should be buried therein — this is best.
