Reciting Verses Whose Ruling Has Been Abrogated
Question
(1) Is there a verse in the Holy Qur’an whose ruling has already been abrogated (mansukh), yet which is still only recited? (2) Are there some verses which are not recorded in the present text of the Holy Qur’an, yet whose ruling remains valid and in force?
Answer
Separate books have been written on this subject, setting out the definition of naskh (abrogation), the kinds of mansukh (the abrogated), the kinds of nasikh (the abrogating), and the ruling on the mansukh. Let me cite one verse as an example.
