Explanation of the Verse ‘Whatever Is in the Heavens and the Earth Glorifies Allah’

Question

A verse of the Holy Qur’an states: [ar]يُسَبِّحُ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ[/ar] “Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth glorifies Allah” (Surah al-Jumu‘a, 62:1; Surah al-Taghabun, 64:1). Yet within them [the heavens and the earth] there is also urine and excrement — do these too perform tasbih? But even if it is said that their tasbih befits their station, still, attributing tasbih to them does not seem quite fitting.

Answer

And does a pig (sur) not glorify Allah too? What is [your] opinion on attributing tasbih to it? Editor’s note: the questioner’s statement that “attributing tasbih [to certain creatures] does not seem quite fitting” is mistaken and contrary to the explicit text of the Qur’an.
