Should the Nikah Be Renewed Every Month?

Question

I have heard that it is written in the book “Shami” that, as a precaution, the nikah should be renewed every month. And Allah knows best. In that case, is the presence of two witnesses required or not? Whatever the procedure is, please explain it. Is there anything objectionable in not renewing it, since most people have not even heard of this, let alone act on it!

Have those from whom you heard this write out the original text of “Shami” together with the reference to the volume and chapter, and send it. After seeing it, God willing, an answer will be given.
