Nikah of an English-Educated Young Man with a Muslim Girl

Question

A young man has had an English education; he is the son of Muslims. Is the nikah of this English-educated young man with a Muslim girl permissible or not — can it take place or not?

Answer

If the beliefs of the English-educated young man are sound and in accordance with the Shari‘a, his nikah with a Muslim girl is valid. If his beliefs are not sound — rather, he is a dahriyya (atheist) or holds other beliefs contrary to Islam — then his nikah with a Muslim girl is not permissible.
