Intermarriage Between Deobandis and Barelvis
Question
What is the ruling for us on taking a girl in marriage from the families of people holding Raza-Khani beliefs (followers of Ahmad Raza Khan, i.e. Barelvis), or giving our own daughter in marriage into their families?
Answer
Mawlawi Ahmad Raza Khan wrote that it is by no means permissible to marry a Wahhabi, whether man or woman. Giving one’s daughter to a Wahhabi is like giving her to a dog; this is not a nikah — rather, whoever gives his daughter to a Wahhabi has given her for zina (fornication), and all the offspring will be illegitimate.
