Prohibition by Affinity Resulting from a Glance at the Mother-in-Law’s Private Part
Question
Zayd was going out of the house when his gaze fell on the private part of a naked woman who, after ghusl, was drying her body with a cloth. Zayd thought it was his wife. Zayd looked at her private part for a little while in a state of desire (shahwa); then, at that very moment, Zayd realised that she was his mother-in-law. Does Zayd’s wife now remain in his nikah or not?
Answer
If the gaze fell only on the upper (outer) part of the private part, then the wife has not become haram by this; the two remain husband and wife as before.
