Marriage of a woman who became pregnant from zina during her ‘idda

Question

If a divorced woman becomes pregnant from zina during the days of her ‘idda, what will her ‘idda be? Also, may the fornicator contract nikah with the woman with whom he committed zina during the period of ‘idda or not? And what is the ruling on worldly dealings with him, for example greeting (salam) and conversation, eating, drinking and so on?

Answer

[ar]إذا حبلت المعتدة وولدت تنقضي به العدة سواء كان من المطلق أو من الزاني[/ar] “If a woman in ‘idda becomes pregnant and gives birth, the ‘idda ends thereby, whether it is from the divorcing husband or from the fornicator” (Shami, vol. 2, p. 604). From this passage it is understood that her ‘idda will be the delivery of the child.
