Marrying a pregnant woman: a child born five months after the nikah

Question

Zayd contracted nikah with Hinda. Exactly five months and eight days after the nikah, Hinda gave birth to a girl. Is this girl Zayd’s? Is Zayd’s nikah valid or not?

Answer

This girl’s lineage (nasab) is not established from Zayd. This nikah is valid. The children born hereafter will be counted as Zayd’s.
