Marriage between Co-Parents-in-Law
Question
Zayd married Hinda. Some time later, Zayd’s mother married Hinda’s father. Is this marriage valid? If the marriage is valid, then Zayd’s mother has, through one intermediary, become a mother-in-law, which is incomprehensible.
Answer
This is a marriage between a co-father-in-law and a co-mother-in-law (the terms for the parents of a married couple in relation to each other), and it is permissible.
