Nikah after abduction, and several other issues
Question
Zayd abducts Bakr’s daughter. Then, after some time, a reconciliation takes place between Zayd and Bakr on the basis that the nikah of Zayd and Bakr’s daughter is tied with each other, and Zayd’s brother ties the nikah of his younger daughter with Bakr’s younger son; besides this, seven hundred rupees in cash are also handed over to Bakr. Is this nikah valid?
Answer
Zayd’s abduction of Bakr’s daughter was haram, but when he concluded the nikah after that, the nikah became valid. The nikah that Zayd’s brother made for his younger daughter with Bakr’s younger son is also valid, but the seven hundred rupees given in cash must (lazim) be returned, because this is pure bribery (rishwa)
