Visiting graves on the day of Eid

Question

In our village, after the Eid prayer people go to the graveyard, recite the Fatiha there and come back. What is the ruling on going to the graveyard, especially on this day?

Answer

The day of Eid is a day of joy, and sometimes, being absorbed in joy, one becomes heedless of the Hereafter, whereas visiting graves brings the Hereafter to mind.
