A qadi’s procession to the Eid prayer
Question
A certain qadi goes to the Eid prayer riding a horse and forming a procession: a band plays in front of him, firecrackers are set off, and people also shout the slogans “Allahu akbar” and “Long live the Qadi!”. The qadi does not stop the people from doing this; rather, he himself wants it and is pleased by it. Is it permitted according to the Shari‘a to go to the prayer in this manner? Is this action of the qadi permissible or impermissible? Kindly issue a Shari‘a ruling.
Answer
This practice is impermissible according to the Shari‘a; its reform is necessary.
