Building a new Eidgah when the old one is too small
Question
The Eidgah (open ground for the Eid prayer) here is cramped and dilapidated; it cannot be extended on either the eastern or the western side. If the Eids fall in the rainy season, even greater difficulties have to be faced. May [an Eidgah] be built at another place instead of this one? And may the bricks of this Eidgah be used for the new Eidgah? The new place that has been proposed is a very old graveyard by the roadside.
Answer
Because of the lack of space it is permitted to build another Eidgah, when there is no room for extension in the present Eidgah. However, if the land of the present Eidgah is waqf, then it is not permitted to demolish it and use its bricks in the new Eidgah; rather, protecting it is also necessary, even if it is made into a mosque for the five daily prayers.
