Sajda al-sahw for an extra takbir in the Eid prayer

Question

If the imam says more than six takbirs, will sajda al-sahw (the prostration of forgetfulness) be [required]?

Answer

At the two Eids there is generally a large crowd, and performing sajda al-sahw causes disorder — people do not realise [what is happening]. Therefore the jurists have written that sajda al-sahw falls away: if [the imam] forgetfully said an extra takbir or omitted one, there is no sajda al-sahw.
