Question

The ignorance of Muslims and their neglect of religion is an acknowledged fact. On top of this, the means of teaching and reminding (tadhkir) that Islam established have been made remote from the mother tongue and turned into “proofs” (?) by means of an unknown language. However much you gentlemen may deny it, I will certainly say that the ‘ulama’ have collectively made a successful effort to keep Islam and the teachings of Islam hidden.

Answer

This objection is based on two views: one relates in general to all the ‘ulama’, the other specifically to Mawlana ‘Abd al-Hayy ﵀. Both views are wrong and need correction. The first view: “The ‘ulama’ have collectively made a successful effort to keep Islam and the teachings of Islam hidden.
