Jumu'a in a house or a room
Question
In a room or a house, 2/20 (?) students perform the prayers at their times. Close by there is also a congregational (jami') mosque where the Friday prayer is held. May they pray the Friday prayer in the house or not? If the Friday prayer is held [there], factionalism or a quarrel may arise in the neighbouring quarter where Jumu'a is held. What is the ruling?
Answer
Every prayer should be performed in the mosque. To leave the mosque and, without a legally valid excuse, arrange the prayer at home is to violate the right of the mosque; especially the Friday prayer — for it, one should attend the congregational (jami') mosque. Jumu'a must by no means be prayed in one's own private house.
