Adding earth to a grave when needed
Question
Is it permissible to have earth added to an unbuilt (earthen) grave after its soil has settled, or to have earth added again after a year or two so that its trace remains? And is it permissible to have a simple raised platform built for the grave out of unbaked brick?
Answer
Having earth added is permissible. If the grave is on privately owned land, then having a simple unbuilt platform made is also permissible in itself; however, later on there is a likelihood of other harms arising from it, so it should not be done. On waqf land there is no room for it whatsoever.
