How should conjoined twins be buried?

Question

A man had twins born to him who are joined at the back: the face of one is towards the west and the other’s towards the east, and both have died. How are they to be buried now? If we turn the face of one towards the qibla, the face of the other is not towards the qibla. What should be done now?

Answer

In this state of compulsion it is not required (lazim) to turn the faces of both towards the qibla — indeed, it cannot be done at all; only the face of one of them will be towards it.
