Applying perfume to the shroud

What is the ruling on applying perfume to the shroud?

Answer

It is mustahabb: [ar]وصفة تكفين الرجل أن يبخر الكفن أولًا بالبخور الطيبة، ويرش عليه الحنوط إن وجد، ويبسط اللفافة ثم الإزار، وهو من القرن إلى القدم، ثم يجعل عليه حنوط إن وجد، ويطلى بالكافور مساجده[/ar] “The method of shrouding a man is that the shroud is first fumigated with fragrant incense and hanut (a compound of perfumes)
