The Ruling on One Who Denied God’s Existence Because His Supplication Was Not Granted
Question
A man supplicated Allah the Exalted at length for some affair of his, but, seeing no sign of acceptance, he went so far as to deny the existence of God and abandoned the prayer. Later he repented and resumed praying. Will he have to contract his marriage anew or not?
Answer
What this man did out of ignorance, through failing to understand rightly what the acceptance of supplication means, was gravely wrong. He must, together with repentance and istighfar, also renew his iman and renew his marriage.
