The Ruling on One Who Declares the Qur’an and Hadith Inapplicable
Question
When a reference to God, the Messenger, the Qur’an and hadith is put before a certain Muslim, he says: “You keep bringing up all these old things; this is a different age — for this age, speak in terms of this age.” What is such a Muslim in the light of the law of the Lord and the hadiths?
Answer
If what he means — God forbid — is that the Qur’an and hadith are of no use in this age, that their principles and injunctions are no longer applicable and that life cannot be set right by them, then such a person is not a Muslim, Allah forbid. So in Fatawa ‘Alamgiri.
