Denying Religion as a Sham

Question

There is a man among us who can barely read and write Urdu. His belief is this: religion is a sham and nothing at all; the glad tidings of Paradise for good deeds and the threats of Hell for evil ones are useless tales for amusement. The outrageous thing is that ignorant Muslims are beginning to believe him.

Answer

Such a belief is contrary to the noble Qur’an, the noble hadith and the consensus of the ummah — to all of them. Such a man should be taken to a scholar of spiritual attainment and comprehensive knowledge, so that the scholar may, by setting out the foundations of religion and Islam, make him a Muslim and answer his doubts and misgivings.
