What Counts as the Necessities of the Religion

Question

How many things are called the necessities of the religion (daruriyyat al-din)?

Answer

The necessities of the religion are those things whose belonging to the religion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is categorical and certain and has reached the degree of tawatur and general renown — so that even the common people know that these things are part of the religion of the Prophet ﷺ.
