How a Shi‘i Becomes a Sunni
Question
My name is Zahanat Raza; I am from a Muslim Shi‘i household and about 22 years of age, and of my own free will — without fear, compulsion or pressure from anyone — I wish to become a Sunni, because the Sunni school alone is the correct one, while the Shi‘i school and its ways are not correct.
Answer
A person becomes a Sunni when he disavows those false beliefs of the Shi‘ah which concern the noble Qur’an, the Rightly Guided Caliphs of the Prophet ﷺ and ‘A’ishah al-Siddiqah ﵂, repents of them, adopts the beliefs of the Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jama‘ah and acts in accordance with them. The beliefs which you have set out in your question are those of the Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jama‘ah.
