Collecting Donations After a Mosque Sermon
Question
After delivering a sermon in the mosque, donations are then collected — is this permissible or not?
Answer
Begging for donations in the mosque after delivering a sermon is not a good practice; it is the work of professional [collectors], and because of it the sermon will have no effect. People will think that the real purpose is collecting donations, and that the sermon has merely been made a means for this trade. Therefore, this should not be done.
