A fornicator demands the hadd for zina, and threatens suicide if it is not applied
Question
Zayd committed zina with several boys and several girls. Zayd says: “Apply the hadd to me so that my sin may be forgiven,” and he says: “If the hadd is not applied to me, I will die by poison or suicide, and I will regard taking poison or suicide as equivalent to the hadd.” Is taking poison or committing suicide valid as equivalent to the hadd? And if the hadd is applied, where is it applied?
Answer
The conditions required for the Shari‘a hadd for zina are not present here at this time; therefore no one has the right to apply the hadd. Suicide too is haram. It is binding upon Zayd to repent sincerely, to feel remorse, to weep before Allah, and for the rest of his life not to go near these vile acts.
