How to seek forgiveness for zina

Question

Kallu committed zina (fornication) with the wife of Mallu. Mallu knows nothing of it, but Kallu wants to inform him and also seeks his forgiveness. The woman too is now repenting. So how should Kallu now obtain forgiveness from Mallu, or how should he render Mallu his right?

Answer

He should ask forgiveness in this way: “Whatever rights of yours I have taken or wasted, whether you know of it or not, forgive me for the sake of Allah.” If the husband forgives, that, in sha’ Allah, is sufficient. He should constantly seek forgiveness from Allah the Pure, feel remorse with a sincere heart and make firm repentance (tawba)
