The Punishment for Zina

Question

Question: What should the kaffara (expiation) for zina be? Must the girl and the boy each perform it separately, or only the boy?

Answer

The punishment for zina is very severe: if the act is committed by a married person, he is to be stoned, that is, pelted with stones until he is completely dead; if an unmarried person commits zina, he is to be given a hundred lashes.
