The Punishment for Zina

Question

Question: It is written in a hadith that if a man and a woman who committed zina were to bathe in seven seas, they still could not become pure, and that from the splashes of their bathing devils are born who commit fornication, and all of this is written in the fornicator’s record of deeds. If he repents and then does this deed again, will his worship be accepted or not? And if the fornicator is unmarried — a hundred lashes, and if married — he will be stoned.

Answer

Allah Most High is greatly pleased by repentance; He accepts worship, forgives the sin and saves from the punishment of the Hereafter. That devils are born from the fornicator’s bathing and its splashes and go on committing zina forever is not established by any hadith; however, the punishment of stoning (rajm) and of lashes is established.
