Garlands Around the Neck of a Hajji

Question

People make garlands of nut kernels, puffed lotus seeds, cloth flowers and rose flowers and put them around the neck of a hajji; they throw garlands and flowers of roses, marigolds, etc. onto the hajji. Is all of this permissible according to the Shari‘a or not?

Answer

All these practices are contrary to the sunna, wrong, and ought to be abandoned.
